School Feeding Program: Breakfast & Lunch in Monrovia, Liberia

Now We Feed 157

Hungry minds can't learn

Your gift becomes truly personal when you support the School Feeding Program at Zoe Robinson Academy, a small school in Liberia.

For some children there, school is the only place they’ll eat today. The school has grown from 105 to 157 students, and your monthly gift helps give every one of them breakfast and lunch.

Why the School Feeding Program is Growing

Last year, 105 children ate breakfast and lunch at Zoe Robinson Academy. This year there are 157. That’s 52 more breakfasts and 52 more lunches every school day. Feeding all 157 students now costs $1,300 a month, about $8 per child each month.

Zoe Robinson Academy has grown. Now the Liberian School for Needy Children helps feed 157 students. That’s 52 more children this year, and 52 more breakfasts and lunches every school day.

Once a month, LSFNC uses an app to send your gift to Liberia. Within four hours, Rosaline, head of finance at Hilltop Schools in Liberia, picks up your gift in cash. She gives it to Cynthia, who shops at a local open market to buy food for the children. Greens and vegetables are chosen one bunch at a time. Fish and chicken add protein to the meals. Even the charcoal for the cooking fires comes from the market.

Back at Zoe Robinson Academy, the kitchen staff prepare everything by hand. Every school day, the meals are cooked over charcoal fires, right at the school. Twice a day, the line forms at the kitchen door. Bowl by bowl, every one is served. Often, it’s the only meal they will get that day.

The school grew from 105 students to 157, and every one of them needs to eat. Please give monthly, so there’s food all school year. $16 a month feeds two children all year. $48 feeds six. One-time gifts are also welcome.

Nourishing Children. Fueling Their Education

Nutritionists plan healthy meals so students have the energy they need to learn. A school nurse also stays on-site to look after the children and their well-being.

Our Direct-Impact Promise

When you give to a global charity, it’s easy to feel like just another number in a database, and your donation can feel like a drop in a very large bucket. You wonder: How much of this actually reaches a child?

At the Liberian School for Needy Children, we operate differently. Because we are a small, focused organization supporting the Zoe Robinson Academy, there is no “middle man” and no complex corporate overhead.

Your support is visible and immediate. When you donate to feed a child, we don’t just send a check to a regional office. Every month we send our partners in Liberia money to buy the rice, beans, and fresh ingredients that the school’s staff prepare in its on-site kitchen.

The students are known by name, and as a donor, you are part of that community. You aren’t just funding a “program”—you are ensuring that a specific child in Monrovia doesn’t have to study on an empty stomach. This is direct-to-student impact, and in a school this size, your gift doesn’t just help; it changes the entire trajectory of a child’s day.
